Our Trailer Mount will allow you to attach either carrier to a receiver extension or trailer. Mounting the carrier to an extension allows you to carry your bikes and pull a trailer, boat or light camper. You have to have at least a Class III hitch to do this. You will also have to make sure you have enough clearance between the objects your are carrying and the trailer you are pulling to allow you to make your turns. This particular extension is rated for 400 lbs. tongue weight, and 4000 lbs. gross weight. Because the extension acts as a lever behind your vehicle you must have a hitch that is rated for at least 600 lbs. tongue weight. The extensions are only made for 2-inch receivers.
